Last week, we took a break from the Friday deadline crunch to host a group of female high school students from Nepal. The visit was well-organized by two of our summer interns, Z and Josie. Katereh (the K in SK) shared her story of how the company started before the group split up to learn the basics of what we design as civil engineers. The brightness and curiosity of the girls was inspiring to all of us!
These girls were competitively selected as some of the brightest in their country through the On-Demand Youth Leadership Program (ODYLP): Nepal – STEM. The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) sponsors this initiative to bring sixteen young participants (ages 15-18) and two adult mentors from the country of Nepal for a three-week U.S.-based exchange focused on promoting female youth engagement in STEM and youth leadership.
