Olathe, Kansas
New 70,000 SF community center at the historic Mahaffie Stagecoach Park. SKDG responsibilities includes new 300-car parking lot, storm water management including detention and best management practices, water main relocation and 800-foot sanitary sewer extension. The project also included master planning for the ultimate park build-out. SK Design was also responsible for coordinating the improvements with two existing on-site lakes including a Class (C) high hazard dam structure.
A new trail was added to the top of the existing embankment and a new bridge placed over the existing spillway structure. An existing 48″ pipe was diverted into the existing “fox” pond through a sediment forebay to help reduce low water elevations during drought periods. A new dry detention pond was constructed on the site to provide stormwater quality and detention of peak flows.
